Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC)

Integrated gasification combined cycles (IGCC) is one of the clean coal technologies currently under consideration for some power plant applications.  GT PRO includes several gasifier models with options for syngas cooling and cleanup prior to admission to the gas turbine.  This sample is a model of a unit built in the early 1990s in Florida, USA.  Here, high pressure nitrogen from the air-separation plant is fed into the gas turbine at nearly 400F (205C), approximately 70% of the steam admitted to the steam turbine is generated by cooling the syngas prior to its cleanup, condensate is heated by final cooling of syngas in the cleanup process.  The modified gas turbine is provided with clean syngas having a heating value of about 4800 BTU/lb LHV.  Total power plant, gasification plant and air-separation plant auxiliary load is 59.5 MW, or approximately 19% of gross plant power output.

PEACE combines the proven cost estimating features for GTCCs with its estimate for gasifier plant costs, to facilitate cost-benefit analysis of burning low cost solid fuels in a relatively expensive combined power and gasifier plant.
